The secondary of the New York Giants improved considerably during the free agency when general director Joe Schoen signed both Cornerback Paulson Adbo and Safety Jevon Holland.

Holland quickly became a leader under an extremely young secondary unit.

After having spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, Holland was shocked about how different and close to the dressing room of the Giants is.

“When I came in, I just wanted to feel at ease, you know. I wanted to find that rhythm with the team, getting to know the boys (s) wanted to be part of the group,” said Holland about the life of Giants. “It was a pleasant surprise, man. I have been part of some really narrow changing rooms.

“This is the most ‘home boy, my dawg’ – like, popping up each other, playing pool, laughing. From top to bottom that is a recipe for success. You have to trust the person alongside you to be successful.”

The defense of the Giants has high expectations this season, especially along the line of defense. Although all eyes are aimed at Abdul Carter and how the third general pick fits in the fold, the secondary can also be built for success.

The Giants will link Holland to Tyler Nubin as the protections in the Achterveld. Holland has the chance to be a leader in the defensive Achterveld and in the dressing room.

It seems that the changes in low season have had a significant impact on the continuity of the team. It could certainly be the hype surrounding the defensive unity as a whole, or the experienced leadership that the giants have brought in on the Quarterback position, or a combination of both.

It is clear that Holland believes in the culture they have built prior to the 2025 season.
