Mr Trump called the investment “an important step towards the ultimate goal of ensuring that iPhones sold in the United States of America are also made in America.” He said that the Apple would also build a server production facility in Houston, invests billions in building data centers throughout the country and building a production academy in Detroit.
Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared to Mr Trump for the announcement and presented him a glass apple plate that he said he was engraved for the president and in a base of 24k gold.
The new investment would increase Apple’s dedication to American production to $ 600 billion in the coming four years, according to a White House official. Spokesperson Taylor Rogers of the White House said in a statement that the announcement with Apple “will help at the same time repeat the production of critical components to protect the economic and national security of America.”
The company announced in February That it would invest $ 500 billion in the US over the next four years and hire 20,000 American employees. Apple then said it would build a new 250,000 square foot factory in Houston, set to open in 2026, which will make servers to provide Apple’s AI services with power.
