West Virginia A key added to the basketball grid earlier this season with the addition of Chance Moore, But he needed an exemption to adjust this year.
Moore started his career ArkansasWhere he only spent one season but appeared in the trial in just five games. He then moved to the state of Missouri, where he on average more than 10 points per match in each of his two seasons with the bears.
The resident of Georgia then moved to St. Bonaventure, where he had his best campaign so far with 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 Steals while starting 31 of 32 games played.
After once he had introduced the transfer portal, Moore paid an official visit to West Virginia and connected to the head coach Ross Hodge At the end of the trip. The versatile 6-foot-5 option is expected to be an important piece for the puzzle, but first was the obstacle of an exemption.
It is a situation that Hodge had treated earlier in his career, but each is individually based.
Still, with the information that West Virginia still had one, they believed that they were convinced that this would be a positive result for all involved.
“We had the feeling that he had a very strong matter. Our compliance office also worked very hard,” he said. “And it is not always the case, but sometimes there are real, really gray areas that you leave to chance. But with this situation we felt pretty confident.”
That’s because the mountain climbers could show what happened and had the supporting materials and documents. And the end result was exactly as the coaches expected when Moore was approved for the exemption, although he is obliged to sit outside the first five games of the season.
Moore gives the mountain climbers a very versatile attacker who can put the ball on the floor and put the edge under pressure. He is also able to effectively recover the ball and has the positional flexibility to monitor multiple stops.
And with him on the floor that is a big boost for the mountain climbers.
“And we felt strongly all the time that it would happen,” said Hodge.
